''Odette’s Secrets'', another Holocaust novel written by a non-Jewish author, Maryann Macdonald, oi... NOTE OF CAUTION: A Holocaust survivor in NYC, 83, says: ''Yes, it's true, re this book's theme, this is a problem many Jewish children faced. I touch upon it in the
very first paragraph of my book. I also once met a Polish survivor who was
12 when she was forced to assume a fake Christian identity. Although this
saved her, the need to keep her secret for years weighed heavily upon her.
Once liberated she changed her first name to Nechama, to show that she
will always live openly as a Jew. This is a well-docummented problem.

All that said, what bothers me about this book is that it is a novel. I am
truly allergic to Holocaust novels, so personally I would approach it with
care.''
