THE HAPPY COUPLE HOLDING HANDS IN AN EMBRACE WHEN THEY WERE YOUNG LOVERS

Retired journo Paul Brinkley-Rogers, in his early 70s now, lifelong newsman, in the biz for over 50 years, started out in the newsroom at the age of 17. He worked for the Stars & Stripes in Tokyo, the USA military paper that went all over Asia to troops there, and for a time in 1962 he was sent over to Taipei by his boss at the Stars & Stripes for a six month stint.

Fast foward to 2013. Paul is now desperately seeking Vicky. Turns out that when he was stationed in Taipei, he fell in love and wooed a Taiwanese woman named Vicky Lee. She was a widow, a young widow, just 25 years or so, with three kids. They met a US military shingdig in the Combat Zone in Taipei and had a short but happy affair. They travelled around the island, they held hands for photos, they had the look of new love of their eyes, judging from old photos that Paul has been sharing with the media. And why this sharing now?

Paul, who never married or had kids, is retired from a long and productive life in journalism and he got it in him to to find Vicky, lo these many of years of losing contact with her. She must be about 70 now herself, and maybe her three grown children are now in their 40s and 50s, too.

Paul, by the way was part of a newspaper team long ago that won a team Pultizer prize for team reporting, so the newspapers are billing the romantic love story headline as "Pulitzer winner seeks long lost Taiwanese muse." The headline actually reads MUSE, yes. As in lover girlfriend bedroom muse. Why beat around the bush, boys? This is a love story writ large! Go for it.

Ms Lee, the widow of a Taiwanese air force pilot, might recognize the photo in the newspapers if she sees it, or if her kids see it and recognize her face, or if some friends or neighbors see the photo. These things happen. Love blossoms, especially at this time of year. Spring is in the air,

Go for it, Paul May your dream come true, and may you and Vcky find a measure of happiness at long last.

end of the story?
